In the process of using glue, due to the change of various conditions, different problems will be encountered. To solve these problems, it is necessary to have a comprehensive understanding and comprehensive analysis of various factors, and understand five "degrees" and two "forces" clearly: temperature (substrate temperature, glue tank temperature, glue roller temperature, ambient temperature), humidity (environment, plate), thickness (edge banding, glue coating), speed (opening, curing, feeding) Surface degree (cutting accuracy and roughness), pressure (size and direction), mechanical force (size and direction of cutting force), and then make specific analysis according to specific problems:
1. Release after bonding
1) Substance causing degumming is released from the bottom of unqualified edge banding strip;
2) Unqualified PVC edge bonding primer (medium) is incompatible with hot melt adhesive;
3) Oily veneer edge sealing is bonded with incompatible hot melt adhesive;
5) The reason is that the hot melt adhesive is cold (sharply cooled) during the bonding process. Stable bonding conditions (including temperature, pressure, working speed, etc.) should be maintained, otherwise the bonding effect will also be affected.
2. There is dirt or too much adhesive on the edge
1) Excessive gluing;
2) Mechanical failure in trimming procedure;
3) Improper gluing position;
4) The set temperature of the fuser is too high;
3. The gluing machine has insufficient gluing or uneven gluing
1) There is blocking adhesive at the pre melting process or glue outlet of the glue applicator, which may lead to uneven glue application;
2) The operating load capacity of the machine is insufficient to completely melt the adhesive;
3) The temperature of the fuser is set too low;
4. The edge banding is easy to fall off during the trimming procedure
1) Glue coating is too thin;
2) The material is too cold or wet (especially when the glue is just applied);
3) If the glue line is clearly visible and shows the pattern of the glue roller, the temperature of the glue roller may be too low;
4) The conveyor belt speed is too slow;
5) The ambient temperature or material temperature is too low (working below 15 °);
6) Insufficient pressure;
5. The initial position of the edge bonding is not ideal
1) The roller shall be adjusted by mastering the skills, and the extended position shall increase the roller pressure.
2) The effect of the glue surface of the glue roller sticking to the 5 cm position at the beginning or end of the panel is often not ideal, because the glue roller at the head and tail positions is prone to insufficient pressure, and when in the high-speed production state, the glue roller and the panel are prone to jump in contact.
6. The effect of bonding both sides is good on one side and bad on the other
1) Poor contact between the panel (base material) and the pressing wheel;
2) Uneven gluing results in glue seepage, which hinders the edge bonding process.
7. Intermittent poor adhesion
1) The liquid state temperature of hot melt adhesive is too low;
2) When the edge banding machine is adjusted too fast and the gluing amount is too high, the hot melt cylinder fails to melt the hot melt adhesive in time, resulting in uneven gluing;
3) The temperature of the fuser is unstable.
8. The edge banding will appear detached soon after bonding
1) The temperature of hot melt adhesive, edge sealing, base material or pressure roller is too high;
2) The temperature of the construction environment (room temperature) is too high;
3) Too much glue;
4) The humidity of edge banding strip or substrate is too high;
5) The base material and edge banding strip itself contain resin (oil) components, thus reducing the viscosity, which most often occurs in the process of using veneer/solid wood edge banding.
